Vince Mendoza is one of the most versatile and prolific composer–arranger–conductors of the last three decades, having received 8 Grammy Awards and 38 nominations. He has written arrangements for a wide variety of pop and jazz artists, from Joni Mitchell, Sting, Melody Gardot, Elvis Costello, and Bjork, to Joe Zawinul, John Scofield, Charlie Haden, Al Di Meola, Al Jarreau, Michael and Randy Brecker, Diana Krall, and Gregory Porter. His compositions have appeared on recordings by the likes of Joe Lovano, John Abercrombie, Peter Erskine, Gary Burton, and Kurt Elling. As a leader, Mendoza has released 12 solo recordings including Epiphany (with the London Symphony Orchestra), Nights on Earth, 2021’s Award Winning “Freedom Over Everything” and his most recent Grammy nominated recording “Olympians” with the Metropole Orkest. Mendoza served as Chief Conductor of the Metropole Orkest from 2005 - 2013, and has been Composer In Residence of the WDR Big Band since 2016.
