Composer/arranger Chelsea McBride guides us through composing for unfamiliar instruments. Using her piece “Paricutin”, Chelsea shows that the process need not be daunting.

About the Presenting Artists(s)

Saxophonist, composer, conductor Chelsea McBride is leader of the 6-piece Chelsea and the Cityscape, and the internationally acclaimed 19-piece Chelsea McBride's Socialist Night School. McBride was Guest Conductor at the 2019 Perth International Jazz Festival and Sydney International Women’s Jazz Festival. McBride was named one of Canada’s top 35 jazz musicians under 35 by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and was the inaugural recipient of the Toronto Arts Foundation’s Emerging Jazz Artist Award.
