Composer/arranger Daniel Jamieson shows how composing using limits leads to surprising and exciting results. Daniel shows how setting limits inspired the melody of his piece "Phantasm".

About the Presenting Artists(s)

Daniel Jamieson is an award-winning composer, arranger, conductor, and saxophonist, as well as the Founder & Artistic Director of JazzComposersPresent.com. He leads the internationally acclaimed Danjam Orchestra, and his debut album, Sudden Appearance (2011), was produced by Jim McNeely and features John Riley.

Daniel’s works have been performed by some of the most renowned artists in jazz and commercial music, including Joe Lovano, Joshua Redman, Marcus Miller, Ingrid Jensen, Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, Kurt Elling, Anthony Hamilton, Warren Wolf, Vince Mendoza, Cecile McLorin Salvant, Armin van Buuren, Scott Wendholt, the Alex Dean Jazz Orchestra, the Metropole Orchestra, the WDR Big Band, the Swiss Jazz Orchestra, and the Danish Radio Big Band.

Since 2016, Daniel has served as Staff Arranger for The U.S. Army Field Band.
